Screening and Shading with Perforated Aluminium

Centenary State High School is an impressive example of great collaboration between the architect, the builder & Louvreclad.
James Cubitt Architects contacted Louvreclad at early design phase to discuss the screening and shading requirements, ensuring an accurate specification.
Our team worked closely with James Cubitt’s design team, providing them with perforated aluminium design options, details and samples.

 As this was an education project, the brief was very specific, with stringent safety and sun shading guidelines set by the Department of Education.

For example, the perforations could be no greater than 8mm to ensure no fingers could get trapped, or anyone able to climb the screens
The final design comprised of flat panel screens showcasing Polaris Series® 105 Round Hole interrupted by a series of custom folded screens in Polaris Series® 202 8.0x50mm Slot Perforated aluminium screens. The design then utilised three different Dulux Duratec colours to provide contrast between the panels
To ensure adequate sun protection on the North Façade, a combination of Louvreclad’s Caprice® and Scarborough Series® were installed in a custom designed vertical and horizontal screen configuration.
The Caprice Series® 634 vertical sun blades were supported by steel outriggers,  while the horizontal Scarborough Series® 650 fins were fixed to the Caprice panels with custom fabricated 6mm aluminium end plates.
Our team enjoyed partnering with James Cubitt Architects and Dickinson Constructions on this project, which is a perfect example of how Early Design Involvement leads to highly successful project!
