Kensington Series® is renowned as the stormproof louvre

Koichi Takada Architects produced a beautiful contemporary response to Sydney’s surrounding heritage buildings.
Brickwork is the hero of the aesthetic, with clever detailing that creates a façade of elegant arches inspired by ‘the curvilinear nature of Australia and masonry nature of surrounding building’s’. The intricate detailing of these arches called for specialist installers, who treat this masonry material with the respect it deserves. This attention to detail and call for quality was also extended to the interface of the louvres within the façade.
Louvreclad were brought on board to design, engineer, supply and install all the louvres required to allow the building to breath, and aid with stair pressurisation. Three louvre profiles were selected to meet the project requirements, including Kensington Series® high performance louvres for the ground level retail spaces.

Renowned as ‘the stormproof louvre’, with 100% effective rain resistance and Class A rating, our Kensington Series® offers the security of virtually nil water entry.

Typically, louvres are installed flush with the external cladding. In this case, the architects wanted the louvres to be expressed as a separate architectural component protruding from the façade. To maintain the clean line aesthetic, a custom light-weight powder coated aluminium frame was designed, with special care given to ensure any water that did make it through would be drained back to the outside.
Featuring on the King Street elevation is a substantially large 3.5m x 53m high Nexus Series® single stage continuous louvre running up the building from Level 9 to the roof.
Orion and Neptune Series® were utilized for all louvre doors and smaller interior louvres.
