Refined design and fully engineered Polaris Series® Bi-Fold Screens

Design intent based on an ‘Italian Village’, Sydney’s Bosco Apartments– Five Docks, incorporate a material palette of sandstone, terracotta and Roman Brick. As a feature on the façade and complimenting these earthy textures are Louvreclad’s Polaris Series® bespoke perforated bi-fold screens powder coated in an earthy palette of white, gold and brown.
Louvreclad worked diligently with Bates Smart architects and Icon Co on this project to develop the design intent and offer a turn-key louvre and sun screening solution.  The final design required Louvreclad to design, engineer, manufacture, supply and install Barossa Series® vertical batten screens with balustrade compliance, Nexus and Mirage Series® weather louvres, Caprice Series® window hoods and Polaris Series® bespoke bi-fold screens.
Operable shutters such as these need careful consideration to ensure they are very intuitive and ergonomic with robust mechanisms that can withstand multiple use and local wind pressures. Therefore, early contractor involvement (E.C.I.) is crucial to ensure the system is detailed, designed and engineered correctly.
The design process of these bespoke shutters entailed producing a working prototype which was then refined and fully engineered to achieve a modular design that is economical to manufacture, easy to operate, with a high-end finish. Polaris Series® perforated bi-fold screens are constructed out of laser cut or punched flat sheet aluminium which is then folded to suit the design. This system allows for a vast range of design possibilities. The versatility of design coupled with our highly engineered mechanism is a great example of The Louvreclad Design team’s expertise and capability to produce high-end operable architectural screens.
