Located in Coorparoo’s growing urban landscape, Maasra Apartments is a standout example of contemporary residential design by Hayes Anderson Lynch Architects.

The project required a facade system that addressed both performance and design demands on a constrained inner-city site. In collaboration with Hindmarsh Construction, we delivered a louvre solution specified to meet both aesthetic and performance requirements that could be installed safely despite limited access.

Inspire with quality

Louvreclad’s Altura Series® Chevron Vertical Louvres were specified for the facade based on the high 80% free open area requirement to ensure strong effective ventilation while also providing weather protection, and visual privacy. Suitable for both commercial and residential applications, the Altura Series louvres meet both the technical performance requirements and support the architectural aesthetic.

Early on, it was clear the product specification called for a high-performing louvre system to suit the building’s high ventilation needs, despite some initial hesitation given the project’s scale. Over time, the unique performance qualities of the Altura Series® proved essential, especially when alternative solutions failed to meet the technical and aesthetic standards required.

Engineer with expertise

During the manufacturing phase, the Altura Series® louvres were custom engineered to meet site-specific challenges. The adoption of a double–blade system for the first time presented a new issue with blade spans. This required a rapid-fire redesign to come up with a suitable solution while maintaining the installation program. The Louvreclad team responded without compromising quality or delivery timelines.

The project required a facade system that addressed both performance and design demands on a constrained inner-city site. Limited site access was a major installation challenge. Early engagement with the design and construction teams enabled the adoption of a modular, unitised approach, where louvre panels were pre-assembled offsite and delivered in manageable sections. This method helped overcome logistical constraints while ensuring precision.
