Louvreclad’s solar shading solutions were seamlessly incorporated into the design of the new General Learning Centre at Mango Hill State School, as part of a broader sun protection strategy. The construction was managed by Wiley, with ArkLab architects leading the design, building on a previous collaboration with Louvreclad at Ferny Grove State High School.
To meet the Department of Education’s procurement guidelines, the project was tendered as Design and Construction (D&C) with generic specifications. Wiley then engaged Louvreclad to assess the project-specific requirements and select the right louvre and sun screening solutions. Drawing on extensive experience in the education sector, and in-house expertise Louvreclad provided the ideal louvre and sun screening solutions to fulfil design and performance requirements.
After agreeing on the solutions, Louvreclad’s engineering team refined connection details to ensure compliance with the NCC and local wind pressures, while enhancing aesthetics. Our Polaris Series® aluminium perforated aluminium and Barossa Series® aluminium batten screens were strategically designed as feature elements to enhance both aesthetics and functionality. Our Caprice Series® 484 vertical blades provided shading on the southeast façade and Mirage Series MSS swaged screens delivered horizontal shading on the east and west windows. Our design team prepared a detailed shop drawing package that captured every requirement of the project, ensuring it met all specifications. ArkLab then approved and signed off on the package.
From start to finish, we worked side by side with Wiley Construction to make sure everything went smoothly. We handled the manufacturing, delivery, and installation with care, making sure the project met all the Department of Education’s guidelines and while there are always some challenges, the project was completed on time. The result is a successful project that met and exceeded expectations, all thanks to our efficient planning and precise processes.
The sun-shading solutions we provided for Mango Hill State School’s new learning centre not only improved the building’s look but also created a more comfortable environment for students and staff. By balancing light and protection from the elements, we helped create a space that supports learning while keeping energy costs down. This project highlights how our tailored solutions bring real value to the people who use them.
