Louvreclad Sheraton Series® vertical sun blades provide vital sun shading and a bold architectural statement to the western facade of these first class medical suites.
Originally specified as timber blades, the architect and client opted to revise the specification and go with an lighter weight low-maintenance aluminium alternative. Louvreclad Sheraton Series® 840mm deep vertical modular sun blades were specified to provide a low this light weight alternative.
Well-managed coordination between Louvrelcad’s project team, the client, façade engineer and onsite builders was essential to ensure the structural loads from the blades met the requirements of the specified curtain wall.
Louvreclad’s project managers and design team then liaised with the ADCO and Martin-Ollman Architects to design and engineer these 10.6m sun blades to suit the project.  The overall screen design required these large vertical blades to meet maximum spans with no visible fixings and minimal breaks to ensure seamless integration within the curtain wall.  This was achieved by using a spigot connection and seamless bolted connection which helped deliver the clean, crisp vertical feature blade called for by the design concept.

Bronze Anodising finishes the sun blades, a superior timber-like natural finish that completes the project and has left the client and architects extremely pleased with the results.

Louvreclad also developed and custom engineered a lifting rigging system to facilitate material handling, increase installation efficiency, safety and prevent product damage. This allowed our installation team to work more proficiently under limited access and structural opening constraints.
Overall another successful example of Early Contractor Involvement (ECI) & good collaboration between Louvreclad, architects and builders.
